Polymer-Modified Bitumen: Evaluating SBS-Enhanced Binders for High-Performance Pavement Applications

Reviewer's feedback:

This study examines SBS modification of bitumen from chemical and rheological perspective. Following are the comments:

1. Organization of 'Experiments' section needs improvement. Subsections are not well connected. Overall readability of manuscript could be improved.

2. In introduction term 'concrete' was used instead of 'cement'.

3. Why were these three bitumen types (Bitumen A, Bitumen B and Bitumen C) chosen for the study? Were the SBS contents of these bitumen types already known? Were the unmodified versions of these bitumen originated from the same source?

4. Figure 3: If this figure from previous research or was obtained from this study. It is not clear.

5. Section 2.3.3: Wrong word- 'microscopy' instead of 'spectroscopy'.

 6. No section number for 'Bitumen-Typisierungs-Schnell-Verfahrens” method' section

7. Figure 7: axis titles need to be in English. In general, quality of figures need improvement. Some figures have really small fonts. Also, figures from other cannot be included as figures due to copyright issues.

8. Section 2.4: Was this test done on asphalt mixture in lab? What were material properties such as type of aggregate, gradation, etc? Was this simulation of the test track section?

9. Section 3.3: Was Bitumen C used in test track? It's not clear.

10. Figure 12: What is Series 1 and which China study is referred to here? It would be better to include a proper reference.

11. Section 3.6: why did the polish resistance improved with increase in SBS content? Why was polish resistance test included as a part of this study?

Editorial Decision for Conference Proceedings:

It is recommended that authors follow the template, as it already provides a clear structure. Suitable for conference publication.
