Workability evaluation of asphalt mixtures using SmartRock sensors: effect of shell shape
Reviewer's feedback:
This is a very interesting paper investigating the workability of asphalt mixtures using SmartRock sensors. A suggestion is that more gradation types could be further included in the paper to improve result realiability.

This laboratory study evaluates the effect of different shell shapes (cubic, spherical) on SmartRock measurements (relative rotations).
Good, to the point abstract.
Generally, a good paper. The paper is well-written with sound theoretical and practical underpinnings. It would have been good to add some possible implications for practice (construction) in the future. Especially, in as far as it could help paving teams who have to deal with mixes where workability is an issue on jobsites. Also, with the movement towards using more WMA and perhaps even cold mixes, this research becomes even more relevant.
A big positive is that the work could lead to a revision of the reference ASTM D8541-23 standard.
The paper promises to generate some good discussion at the conference.
