Case study on the effectiveness of pavement preservation treatments

Reviewer's feedback:

This case study explores the effectiveness of three pavement preservation treatments using observational data from Illinois DOT's preservation database. While the use of CRS, IRI, and rut depth indicators provides a strong foundation, the analysis remains primarily descriptive and correlation-based, with limited application of statistical or predictive methods. The manuscript would benefit from more robust methodological treatment (e.g., regression analysis, hypothesis testing), better figure formatting, and a stronger research gap in the introduction. While the findings are valuable for state-level pavement management strategies, the paper is lacking in alignment and formatting and is not yet ready for journal publication. It is, however, well-suited for presentation at PFDM.
